Broiler Chicken Lighting and Sensors
Having good quality lighting and the right type of lights for broiler chickens is crucial for boosting their growth and improving overall performance, all while helping you keep costs in check. Our lights provide superior illumination and remain simple for farmers to adjust, thanks to our patented inductive power line. With this technology in place, you can ensure your broilers get the consistent, high-quality light they need to thrive.

ALIS Reviews

Karen Schwean-Lardner
“Greengage has been a fantastic research partner! They are very interested in providing the best equipment that they can to poultry producers and have focused on partnering with us on lighting research projects! On a research AND practical basis, we love the clip-on light system. We can easily add lights when we want a brighter environment, switch them out to coulored lights for catching, or remove some if we wish to do that. So versatile!”

Greenknowles Farm, UK
Significant reduction in lamp replacement and the expense that involves after each cycle (six weeks) is worth the investment in ALIS alone. We have ALIS installed in four sheds. Compared to our sheds that use CFL lights, I have noticed a better distribution of light on the floor with no dark areas resulting in calmer birds.

The importance of proper lighting in broiler chicken farms
Good lighting is crucial if you want your broilers to grow well and stay healthy. By managing the intensity, duration, and spectrum of light, you’ll keep your birds productive, stress-free, and in top shape—which is not only beneficial for them, but also for your bottom line!
Boost Growth and Consistency
Broiler chickens respond strongly to the amount and schedule of light they receive each day. When you set up an appropriate photoperiod (lighting schedule), you help support steady growth and better feed efficiency. If lighting is too dim or the day length fluctuates, it can disrupt feeding routines and lower weight gains. Well-calibrated lighting ensures more consistent growth and improved meat quality.
Improve Bird Welfare and Behaviour
When broilers deal with harsh, flickering, or insufficient light, they may become stressed or show disruptive behaviours. On the flip side, a well-designed LED lighting system—like our inductive loop lighting—provides stable, uniform illumination that helps reduce stress levels. Less stress translates to healthier birds, a calmer environment, and, ultimately, higher productivity.
Optimize Energy Savings
Modern, energy-efficient lighting solutions (including LED fixtures) can significantly cut power usage. While old-school bulbs give off extra heat and hike up electricity costs, LED systems allow for precise control over brightness and colour temperature without sacrificing broiler welfare or productivity. That means lower bills and a more eco-friendly operation.
Maintain a Healthy Flock
Beyond improved growth and cost savings, proper lighting is also essential for preventing disease and keeping your entire flock healthy. Well-lit housing helps you spot any signs of illness or discomfort early, so you can intervene right away. Clear visibility also supports good sanitation practices, reducing bacterial hazards and paving the way for a healthier, more successful broiler farm.
