Electronics Engineer

Greengage requires an Electronics Engineer to work on hardware and firmware for sensor products with internet connectivity, powered from their innovative inductive power ALIS lighting system.

Duties & Key Responsibilities

Developing electronics for lighting controllers, induction powered LED lamps and wireless sensor products. Including buck/boost power supply design, micro-controllers and communications interfaces.

Fully documenting designs, including Schematics, BOMs and PCB Layouts.

Liaising with suppliers and sub—contractors to develop and implement production product

Risk assessment of designs and manufacturing process via DFMEA/PFMEA.

Product test strategy, prototype and production validation.

Obtaining global product approvals, liaising with approvals agencies.


Key Relations

Primary contact for suppliers of electronic components and PCB assemblies.

Primary contact for embedded software developers and sub-contractors.

Although this is a UK-based role, the successful candidate will be required to travel to overseas conferences, events and partner facilities.

Skills & Experience


HNC in Electronic Engineering.


BEng or BSc in electronics or related engineering discipline.

Project management qualifications.

Embedded software skills.


All candidates must be able to demonstrate the following skills and key competencies

Attention to detail, with a quality focus.

Good problem solving abilities able to define and solve problems proactively.

Risk assessment, and design for six sigma.

Strong communicator, able to convey complex issues simply and work globally with agencies and suppliers whose first language may not be English.


Experience Requirements

Circuit design, including schematic capture and simulation via SPICE.

Experience of commercial ECAD software, e.g. ORCAD, PADS, Pulsonix.

Experience designing products to meet EMC and wireless approvals.

Developing products with serial communication protocols, USB, I2C, SPI, RS232, R485.

Developing products with wireless communications, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Lora or others.

Demonstrable experience in the development of wireless communication devices.

Experience of working within SME environments.
